How to Add Schedules and Tasks in UniPlanner
A step-by-step walkthrough of adding your weekly timetable and creating tasks in UniPlanner — so everything you need to do is in one place from day one.
Getting your schedule and tasks into UniPlanner is the single most valuable thing you can do when you start. Once your timetable is in and your deadlines are tracked, the app starts working for you — surfacing what is coming up, flagging what is overdue, and keeping your week visible at a glance. This guide walks you through both from scratch.
Adding your schedule
Your schedule lives on the Schedule page. This is where you build out your weekly timetable — lectures, tutorials, labs, and any recurring activities you want to track.
To add an item, tap the + button at the bottom-right corner of the screen on mobile, or click Add Item in the top-right on desktop. A step-by-step modal will appear.
Step 1 — Choose the type. Select Class for a lecture, tutorial, or lab. Select Activity for anything that is not a course (gym, society, part-time work). Select Assessment to log an upcoming exam or assignment deadline.
Step 2 — Pick the course. For a class, you will be shown a list of your saved courses. Select the one this class belongs to. If you have not added your courses yet, tap Add courses first — this takes you to your profile where you can create them.
Step 3 — Set the day and time. Pick the day of the week this class runs on, then set the start and end times using the time picker. UniPlanner uses 15-minute intervals so you can match your real timetable exactly.
Step 4 — Add a location (optional). If your class has a room or building, type it here. It will appear on the schedule card and in the Dashboard's Up Next section.
Step 5 — Repeat or one-off. Toggle Repeat Weekly on if this class runs every week. Turn it off if it is a one-time session — UniPlanner will ask you to confirm the specific date.
Tap Add to Schedule and you are done. The class appears on your timetable immediately, sorted into the correct day and time slot.
Adding tasks
Tasks are individual to-dos with optional due dates, urgency flags, and course links. They show up on your Dashboard and on the dedicated Tasks page.
To add a task, go to the Tasks page and tap the + button (mobile) or Add New Task (desktop). A modal will slide up.
Fill in the task name — be specific. "Finish essay" is less useful than "Write conclusion and reference list for History essay". A specific title makes it easier to pick up where you left off.
Set a due date if there is one. This unlocks the urgency system — UniPlanner will flag the task as Today, Soon, or Overdue based on how close the deadline is, so nothing sneaks up on you.
Toggle Urgent manually if something needs doing before its deadline — for example, a preparatory reading that has to happen the night before a seminar.
Tap Add Task and it is saved immediately. It will appear on your Dashboard if it is due today or coming up soon.
Keeping it up to date
The schedule and task list are only as useful as the information in them. A few habits that keep everything accurate:
- Add new assessments to your schedule as soon as they are announced — do not wait until they feel urgent
- When you finish a task, mark it complete so it disappears from your view and your Dashboard stays clean
- At the start of each week, scan your schedule and add any one-off events or changed timeslots
- If a deadline moves, update the due date on the task straight away — the urgency indicator will adjust automatically
Five minutes of maintenance at the start of the week will save you a lot of stress by Thursday.
